Super Toonie: Saturday April 22nd – 1:30pm

I’ve been alone with you inside my mind
And in my dreams, I’ve touched your cranks a thousand times
I sometimes see you look outside my door
Hello, is it me you’re looking for?

Dust off those cobwebs and pull out those shammies! We’re getting the party started with the SORCA SUPER TOONIE WEEKEND!!! Sponsored by our good friends at Coast Aggregates and Vocari Financial. We’ve got an action packed weekend and you’ll all be happy to hear that Speedy J Sparling designed the XC toonie course… read on and try to hold in your breakfast

We’ll start registration Saturday April 22nd at 1:30pm for the XC Toonie at the first Y junction on the Ring Creek FSR. If you aren’t familiar with this location, pedal up from the bottom of Half Nelson towards the start of Pseudo-Tsuga and as soon as you see the first split in the road, you’ll find us waiting for you! The Toonie will start at 2:30pm Riders are going up up up up. Don’t worry, we aren’t sending you up Stl’lhalem Sintl’, we know most of us are out of shape. So we’re sending you up the Ring Creek FSR and over George’s Crossing. Keep going and head on up Skookum, down IMBA, down Fred and onto Tinder. Rip Tinder for approximately half the trail… then a quick swipe right and a little clear cut shuffle onto Happy Hairy Clam. From there you’ll head down around and into Your Mom, onto Pseudo-Tseuga and finish at the lower lot. Heck yeah! Now Jamie deserves a beer for keeping you all from busting a lung!!

This year we are cracking down on forgotten RFID tags. You may be able to save SORCA money and reduce waste by reusing your RFID handlebar tag from last year. Please read below and see if any of these apply to you:

  1. If you have a handlebar tag that’s WHITE and you know it was ISSUED TO YOU:
Awesome, strap it to your handlebars before the toonie, you can keep using it this season, you won’t even need to sign in.
  2. If you have a handlebar tag that’s WHITE and it was issued to somebody else (or you’re not sure who it was issued to):
You can’t use it , please drop it off to us at toonie sign-in. We can reset it so it can be used again in future.
  3. If you have a handlebar tag that’s YELLOW with red text and white backing:
Sadly these are obsolete. Please don’t bring it to the toonie, just put it in your recycling bin at home.
  4. If you don’t have an RFID tag:
Come on by Registration with plenty of time and Spruce Race Timing will get you sorted.

If you forget your RFID tag on your next toonie, we will have to charge you $5 to cover our costs. Please remember to keep them handy for Wednesday evenings, along with your toonie!

New this year we are starting up a Kid’s Toonie Series with hopefully 8 toonies taking place on Sunday’s through the summer, starting May 7th. Stay tuned for details in our next newsletter.

Don’t forget to become a SORCA member! We’ve decreased our prices for Youth this year and you can save by signing up the whole family. If you’ve already purchased a Youth pass, please email [email protected] and we’ll get you sorted.
