CINCO #8 – July 18 – VentureWeb and The Sea to Sky Gondola present: The Kings and Queens of Squamish

VentureWeb and The Sea to Sky Gondola Present… The Kings and Queens of Squamish!

Can you climb like a mofo? Can you shred the brown pow? Baggies and spandex will collide in the ultimate test this Wednesday, July 18, to decide who will be crowned the King and Queen of Squamish MTB.

Cinco #8 will feature separate timed up and timed down on the toughest Cinco course of the year.

Hearty Party and Crown Coronation ceremony to follow after the race – location will be announced at the race; it will be located close to the start/finish.
Awesome prizes for the fastest up, fastest down and fastest all around for both gals and guys. Not to mention lots of giveaways for everyone who participates.

Hopefully this heat is going to abate by Wednesday (fingers crossed), but do plan for your most challenging #Cinco ride of the year (and most fun!) – bring lots of water and maybe a sweatband with those sweet matching wrist bands too. For those who just finished racing BCBR…sorry.

The Course: Riders will start at the lower Diamond Head lot and head all they way up the legacy (for those of you recoiling in horror, it won’t be the full megacy…never go full megacy), past angry midget and continue up the climbing trail until the short circuit shortcut (just past grin and holler intersection). That’s the top!
Racers will then descend into meadow of the lower grizzly, then onto Pseudo Psuga, where riders will negotiate all three legs of Pseudo and finish in the lower parking lot.
For those seeking the fastest overall time, no rest for the wicked, but for those who are just aiming for a fast descent (or just to survive), you’ll have the opportunity to catch your breath at the top between the two timed sections.

Start is a bit different this time: We will be rolling out in a self-seeding, staged fashion, either solo with short (10 sec) gaps or in small groups of <10.
Start will run from 6:15pm onwards.

As always, bring your timing tag, as well as your $5 to the afterparty. If you have friends in town that aren’t SORCA members, it’s $20 for a one day membership inclusive of the apres.
