director of fundraising and membership
-
We would like to congratulate and thank Jackie on securing the Director of Fundraising and Membership through acclamation. She has been in this role for a number of years and been hugely impactful on our team. Here is her bio;
My name is Jackie McKinley, and I am an outdoor enthusiast who is passionate about the Squamish community, our trails and the role SORCA plays in ensuring both are around for folks to enjoy for many years to come. I am running for a third term as the Director of Fundraising, Volunteering and Membership. During my 4 years in this role, I have supported SORCA in growing membership to record numbers, developing an informative annual survey, and elevating the volunteer experience. This work has deepened my understanding of our unique biking community and I look forward to continuing to provide both strategic and operational contributions to this great organization.I am a Social Impact professional with almost 10 years’ experience in corporate community investment. While at MEC I launched a $1M Social Impact program where I developed partnerships nonprofit organizations such as Parks Canada, POW Canada, the ACMG, and the ACC. Since then, I have worked at BCAA and Aritzia where I have led Community Giving and cause marketing – strategically allocating millions of dollars in financial, volunteer and in-kind contributions to charities and nonprofits across North America. I also have an extensive background in corporate cause marketing and communications, a crucial skill in amplifying impact. I believe having this professional experience has proven to be beneficial to SORCA as I bring the unique understanding of both sides of a funder/non-profit dynamic.

director of races
-
I have been the race Director for both SORCA as well as WORCA in Whistler. I’m excited about the opportunity to join the board again in either the race Director or director at large position. I think my previous experience as a board member and time living in Squamish provides me with the insight into the needs of the biking community, and also shows I have the skill set to be a successful member of the board. I will listen to the sorca members and ensure I represent their voice in decision-making.
Fun Fact - I once cycled from Vancouver to Tijuana, Mexico -
To do with Squamish and SORCA I have volunteered off and on at dig days mostly. Additionally, I have spent a good deal of time building and maintaining trails throughout the network. One of my greatest volunteer efforts was the completion of the trail Airplane Mode. In collaboration with OneUp Components I have helped with the organization of several races, socials and dig days.
Fun Fact - I moved to B.C, and to Squamish in 2017 with a single speed mountain bike strapped to my roof rack, a bed in the back of my hatchback, and less then $500.00 in my bank account.
Director at large (electing two)
-
I had been involved in volunteering with SORCA for several years before moving to Campbell River in 2021, but in 2025 we have returned to Squamish, and I am ready help out with whatever is needed. I am also a very active rider, and I believe I can contribute lots to SORCA.
Fun Fact - Nobody can pronounce my name properly, so I just go by "G" -
Hi! My name is Rosemarie (or Rose) and I am pleased to be re-running for a Director At Large position. Two years ago, I ran for the Board with the promise to work on inclusion, diversity, and education initiatives, and ensure these initiatives get prioritized in the strategic plan. That’s where I’ve focused my time. My major accomplishments over the last two years have been: (1) Providing support to the Squamish Nation Youth Mountain Bike Team and opportunities for the youth to design a bike trail (2) Writing many large scale proposals/plans to increase capacity for trail and education projects (3) Organizing Pedal with Pride 2024 and 2025 (4) Leading SORCA’s four year strategic plan renewal and reporting (5) Destroying my office body at dig days. If re-elected to the board, I will continue to focus on these areas. Previous to my time on the board, I volunteered as a committee member on volunteer engagement/experience initiatives after completing my masters research project on this topic. My day job is teaching leadership and teamwork at CapU.
Fun Fact - Last winter I saw a monkey while riding the world’s longest tube water slide -
Why vote for Ted Tempany for the Director at Large position on the SORCA Board?
Most of us know Ted—he’s been out there for decades, shovel in hand, building and maintaining the trails that make Squamish what it is today. Ted’s a freeride pioneer, course designer, and long-time professional volunteer who’s poured more time and heart into this community than just about anyone.
He’s also a parent and local business owner, someone who lives and breathes the Squamish lifestyle and gives back at every opportunity. Trails like Half Nelson, Miki’s Magic, and classics like P’Nuts, Cakewalk and most recently a freshly rebuilt Full Nelson are all part of his legacy—some of the most loved and highest-rated trails on Trailforks.
But what really sets Ted apart is how he builds community as much as he builds trails. Ted lead the charge to bring the first FMB Contest to Squamish, fulfilling a twenty five year goal for the pioneering course designer/builder. He also mentors new builders, brings people together, and has helped turn our once small trail network into a world-class destination for riders, runners, and hikers from around the world.
Ted’s got the experience, the passion, and the vision to help guide SORCA into the future. I can’t think of anyone better to represent our trail community on the Board.
Fun Fact - As a Professional Volunteer, Ted just returned from another trip to NZ where he helped a small community association build a paved Pumptrack for the local community to enjoy. While in NZ the Pumptrack builders endured 200km/h winds, horizontal rain the size of small birds, flooding and few small earthquakes. -
My name is Taylor Booth and I’ve been mountain biking for over 25 years, starting in Alberta and spending the last 6 years riding and building community here in Squamish. The Squamish trails have become a core part of my life, and I’m passionate about supporting the people and work that keep this network thriving. Professionally, I’ve spent the last decade working in project management, leading complex builds, coordinating teams, and keeping large-scale projects on track. I’d like to bring those skills to SORCA to support thoughtful planning, effective communication, and strong collaboration with volunteers, land managers, and the biking community. My goal is to help ensure Squamish’s trail system continues to thrive for riders of all levels, today and for future generations.
Fun Fact - I once left my shock in climb mode for way longer than I’d like to admit... -
I moved to Squamish with my family barely two years ago and find myself enamored and inspired as we nestle into this special place. I do not have a storied history of riding and building trails in the Sea to Sky, but I have the same love for them that is shared throughout our community. Through SORCA, I aim to connect with my community to ensure that the experiences that my family has shared are available to all who chose to make Squamish home. My previous board experience involved the execution of 5/10/25K charity run that used the proceeds to drill clean water wells in Ethiopia.
My time off my bike is spent as a senior executive for a national civil construction firm where I lead all facets of large-scale infrastructure projects. I feel my experience in pre-construction and procurement, cost control, and project management would assist SORCA in managing increasingly complex project procurement and delivery.
Fun Fact - Despite my mild-mannered exterior, I spent 10 years fronting a metal band as the lead singer. It served as a weird, though cathartic, version of Toastmasters, where I got to get up in front of strangers and yell at them every weekend for 10 years. -
I work as the Director of Policy and Programs at a national non-profit, focusing on environmental policy in the recycling industry. For the past 12 years, I’ve been diving into policy and advocacy issues, spending the last 5 years in B.C. and the previous 8 years across Europe and the UK. My career has taken me through valuable experiences working with First Nations, municipalities, and various levels of government, along with non-for-profit and private companies in Canada. I’ve volunteered for several of SORCAs race events in the past, and in trail maintenance for some of our backcountry ski huts in the sea-to-sky. I'd welcome the chance to support the board in the policy, legal & governance areas and I am no stranger to pitching it at events.
Fun Fact - I tried to run the sunshine coast trail this year in one push. (Key word tried...). If you ever want to experience an emotional experience, run for 36 hours through the rain with your friends with 30 mins of sleep! -
